Walkabout runs Saturdays, August 16, 23 and 30 at 1 p.m. (tours every 15 minutes until 2 p.m.). The starting location is the Elgin Art Showcase at 164 Division Street, 8th Floor, Elgin, IL. Call (847) 841-1713 to reserve your spot. Reservations are absolutely essential! Tour guides will lead patrons to different downtown locations where local theatre companies will perform short theatrical works. The theater walk ends where the Alley of Art begins at Du Page Court next to Al’s Café where local artists will create, display and sell their art. How does it work? A group of people start out at the Elgin Art Showcase where a guide will lead them through the sidewalks, sites and sounds of downtown Elgin, where theater will be presented in non-traditional spaces. Who’s participating? You can catch performances by Vex Theatre Company, The Elgin Theatre Company, Independent Players, Janus Theatre, and Nothing Special Productions. Where is this happening? The Elgin Art Showcase, Al’s Café, Elgin Books, Elgin Public House, Lily Falls, and Ravenheart Café are some the locations where theater will be presented. The art show "Alley of Art" will be at Du Page Court next to Al’s Café. |
