Elgin in new 8th Congressional District

The congressional district map released by Illinois Democrats today has the central and eastern portions of Elgin drawn into a new 8th Congressional District in which there is no incumbent. Congressman Hultgren (R) and Walsh (R) have been drawn into the same district.

Senate map targets Republicans

The new Illinois Senate map includes a new 33rd Senate District west of Elgin going to the county border. It may be the only seat Republicans pick up. They are bound to lose several under the new map where incumbents are pitted against each other. Six Republican senators will have to run against each other. At least another two have been given borders favoring Democrats.
