Roadhouse Bar and Grill is the new establishment that will open in the Grove Theater/Prairie Rock space in downtown Elgin. I have nothing to add beyond what has been posted in the thread on the Prairie Rock closing, but wanted to designate a thread for anybody posting information about this new restaurant. Apparently it is a rather unique concept that will incorporate MMA (mixed martial arts) events.
They have a Facebook page and an unbuilt website.

The Elgin Bike & Dine on September 19th was fantastic!  (Yes, this post is long overdue, but my photos were inaccessible for a bit.)
Nearly 30 people gathered together to ride on mini bike rides between several dining stops in a progressive lunch.  The ride totaled 13 miles in all.  First stop was Ravenheart Coffee.  It was great to see so many bikes parked outside.  Maybe some day that will be the norm!  (Fingers crossed.)

Next we went to Douglas Street Sports Bar for appetizers. Tasty.

Sadly, a downtown Elgin antique store is closing. The antique store was formerly housed in the Heider electric building, which had originally been the home of the Elgin Windmill Company. The antique store took its name from the windmill factory calling itself the Elgin Windmill Factory Antiques. About a year ago, they moved out of that building into the old Waverly Stables, one of the few remaining cobblestone structures in Elgin. September 1st marked the beginning of a month-long program going on in downtown Elgin called “Elgin by Bike.”   How does Elgin by Bike work?
1) Go to any participating location to pick up a wallet guide.
2) During the month of September, ride your bike like crazy to downtown businesses.
3) At each business, show your helmet as evidence that you rode a bike, and ask for them to initial the wallet guide.
4) Once you’ve received 10 initials, turn the wallet …

FoxFireFest 2009

FoxFireFest, as the name implies, is an event focused around the glow of fire on the water, including a mystical night-time fire and light show on the river, accompanied by unique theatre, art, dance and musical performers.
