Young skateboarders in downtown Elgin

I stopped by Fiesta Salsa last weekend and spotted this nice family enjoying a summer day on the downtown riverfont in Elgin.

A couple of bridal parties were taking pictures at the same time(!) at Walton Island and the riverfront during Fiesta Salsa last weekend in downtown Elgin. I guess that’s a popular spot with wedding photographers in Elgin.

As the city draws plans to redevelop the land, 15 acres of the newly accessible real estate is slotted for ECC. This could potentially allow them to unify their campus, which is split between the main portion off of McLean, and the Fountain Square campus downtown. With the new acreage, ECC could move the facilities at Fountain Square to its main campus, and the city would take ownership of the land in the center of town.

Just in case you forgot, Brewfest is on! Details on their webpage. Looks like it’s stopped raining so hopefully turnout will be pretty good. While you’re down there don’t forget to stop by some restaurants, pubs and clubs in the downtown.
