In the 14th Congressional District race The Daily Herald newspaper endorsed Saturday incumbent Representative Bill Foster (D) over his Republican challenger Randy Hultgren.

The Herald wrote:

In just his first term, incumbent Bill Foster says he already has crossed swords with his Democratic brethren, namely voting against every budget offered by his party because of what he sees as exorbitant deficit spending. He also sided with the GOP on cap-and-trade limits on carbon emissions. Foster made a quick impact on Congress, casting the deciding vote to keep an ethics bill alive on the day he was sworn in just three days after winning a special election March 8, 2008. Yes, Foster voted for health-care reform and the massive stimulus package, but his centrist leaning and his willingness to listen to all sides of a question seem to be the right mix for the district

Mr. Foster has also been endorsed by the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times.

His campaign also reported Friday that it raised more money than the Randy Hultgren campaign in the last quarter. Mr. Foster reported raising $646,463 to Mr. Hultgren’s $444,905.

Both campaigns claim polls putting their candidate in the lead. Real Clear Politics rates the race a toss up.

Foster served us well, confirmed by Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald and Chicago Sun-Times as well as strong endorsements by Illinois Farm Bureau and VFW(Veterans of Foreign War).

Hultgren seems to be just reciting things from his party bosses’ talking points without thinking. Last thing we need in this coutry is having such career politicians from Springfield in congress.

Foster has voted with Pelosi on healthcare, on the stimulus. He is out of touch with his constituents and ignores phone calls, emails, and doesn’t hold many meetings. His liberalism is completely out of touch with the 14th District. Good riddance to Foster.
