Would love to hear your thoughts on your buddy Kaptain running for mayor, rm. Apparently, he couldn't stop the Walmart/Sam's club development from locating in Elgin but did get his next best victory in hobbling Walmart with reduced store size. No word yet on his brick paver parking lot idea for Walmart (but not City of Elgin parking lots).
Humorous too, on Kaptain indirectly blaming his city government for the demise of the Roadhouse by not moving quickly enough on DNA recommendation of soundproofing such venues (via taxpayer subsidized money, absolutely no doubt given demise caused by lack of money, not lack of noise!).

This is a good news for ECC, and generally what is good for ECC is good for Elgin. If nothing else, it will get the City's hands off the old Spartan Meadows property and keep the city hall crowd from raping that open land with some ridiculous tax-sucking scheme like a multi-million dollar professional softball stadium.

And "ArtSpace"? Another boondoggle sucking up scarce public money to bring more people into Elgin who can't support themselves. When will Elgin stop giving away public money for will o' the wisp schemes always promising some return way, way down the road? (Answer: when the Des Plaines casino fires up.)

If the city wants to subsidize Montmarte On The Fox for "artists" who can't support themselves, why not close up the PADS facility out by ECC, give its "clients" some pencils, call them "artists," and house them in the former Roadhouse? These residents would likely be better behaved - and scarcely less affluent - than what the Roadhouse pulled into Elgin. Is the DNA is afraid they'd spread TB?
