Mike Bailey returns with BocaJump

28 June 2010 RS 7 Comments

Former Elgin Courier News editor and columnist Mike Bailey will once again offer his opinion for public consumption via his new editorial vehicle BocaJump.com. The site promises to be a destination site for “all things Elgin.”

Via the Courier News:

BocaJump content will include a daily Elgin-based coupon, along with releases from local nonprofits, schools, hospitals, faith groups, the library, chamber of commerce and the city. It will hold a business directory, restaurant profiles and nightlife features. And Bailey will be among the site’s columnists, writing pieces similar to what he wrote at The Courier.

The site is apparently a joint project between Mr. Bailey, his son JJ (LateNite Design ), EveryWare (Steve Munson) and Sevans Strategy (Sarah Evans). Chris Bailey is not involved at this time.

The site launches Tuesday. Make sure you stop by and welcome Mr. Bailey to the blogosphere.

I think they should have gotten at least some content together on their site BEFORE the Courier News article started sending people to it.

I hope “Bailey will be among the site’s columnists, writing pieces similar to what he wrote at The Courier.” doesn’t mean he will be peddeling his anti-immigrant views. I hope it will, in fact, be positive and Elgin-centric.

I look forward to reading Mr. Bailey’s work again. I trust he will have much to say about Elgin issues, especially the current and future political scenes. Mr. Bailey impresses me as someone who can see thru hidden agendas and pandering. Take note of that.

I know he knows how to comment on issues without calling people obscene and vulgar names, too. Even though he will not be bound by the same rules for public decency as he was with a newspaper, I cannot imagine him slipping to the level of a small, 6th grade child that no one will play with on the playground who yells out obscene language just to get attention.

    Welcome back, Mr. Bailey.

I see the site will be up today, “Sometime before the sun sets.”

I certainly welcome Mr. Bailey’s return to the public forum.

I hope he returns as a strong Elgin voice for progressive American values sustaining a prosperous community of safe neighborhoods, well-maintained homes, honest government, healthy independent families, and middle-class jobs supporting good schools and a flourishing and diverse retail economy.

No wonder Mr. Gil Feliciano is concerned.

Are you sure he wrote against immigrants or against ILLEGAL immigrants? There is a large difference, as most law-abiding citizens know. I cannot imagine Bailey or any other law-abiding citizen being against people coming to this country legally to prosper and contribute to our country. I most certainly CAN imagine him being against people illegally entering our country, as most law-abiding citizens should.

I hope Lamont is still in the area. He has a way of getting the inside story at city hall.
