2010 Elgin Brewfest is now and tomorrow

18 June 2010 RS No Comment

Just in case you forgot, Brewfest is on! Details on their webpage. Looks like it’s stopped raining so hopefully turnout will be pretty good. While you’re down there don’t forget to stop by some restaurants, pubs and clubs in the downtown.

Also, there’s some nice background info on the event via the Courier News:

After the restaurant’s shuttering, former Prairie Rock co-owner Mike Origer — who created the entity Elgin BrewFest LLC — took it upon himself to continue the festival to help the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin.

This weekend’s sum of all wristband sales and beer proceeds, and a portion of food revenues, will go directly to the organization…

There is no charge to enter the festival grounds at Elgin BrewFest, and all ages are welcome. However, a valid ID is required to obtain the $1 wristband needed to purchase beer or wine.

Beer will come at the price of one ticket, which are $5 apiece. Featured beers this year are Budweiser, Bud Light, Amber Bock, 312, India Pale Ale, Summertime, Matilda, Shock Top, Shiner Bock and Trumer Pils. All food, soda, water and wine sales will be cash only.
