I have gotten free tickets to their fairly recent Laugh In play they did by working concessions. Maybe someday I could offer to write a review as well to score some free tickets. What do you think Boxcar?

I didn't get to see this production. I find if I watch British humor on tv I have trouble picking up on what they are saying some times.

I got interested in Elgin Theater Company back in about 1991 when they were still called Elgin Community Theater and performed in Old Elgin High's auditorium. My daughter was about 9 and she was in the kids chorus for Joseph. That show in some ways was better than the production we saw with Donny Osmond in Chicago as Joseph.

The next year was my biggest regret because they did Roger's and Hammerstein version of Cinderella. I was not aware of how beautiful the music was until I saw the musical. If I had known I would have tried to get up the nerve to audition for a chorus role. My daughter who was around 10 was cast as the youngest of the principal dancers. She was even in a scene where she is dancing with the prince.

To get over my stage fright that had prevented me from auditioning for Cinderella I auditioned and got a role with No Center Aisle Theater at the Arcada for a one night historical murder mystery benefit for the St. Charles Historical Society. I got more lines than I had hoped for as one of the main villains but I got through it. Since then I have not had the opportunity to be in a musical with my daughter or my wife but I am hoping some day we will all be able to be in a show together.

I have been a follow spot operator for Elgin Theater Group when they did Cabaret, the comedy You Can't Take It With You, and a World War II Neil Simon Comedy that the name escapes my memory. The group always does a fantastic job.
