I guess we will expect endorsements from some of these parties in the general election.
The event, if you’re interested in attending, is a fundraising reception at the Centre of Elgin.
Senate President John Cullerton
is Proud to Host a Reception in Honor of
State Senator Michael Noland – 22nd DistrictWednesday, January 27th, 2010
5:30pm – 8:00pm
The Centre in Elgin
100 Symphony WayGuest – $75 / Host – $200
Patron – $500 / Silver Sponsor – $1,000
Gold – $2,500
As for Steve Rauschenberger, he is still in the race. Democratic efforts to take him off the ballot have so far not succeeded, and it does not appear that they will succeed. The general election matchup should be Noland v. Rauschenberger, and it’s sure to be one of the most expensive races in the state. Each side is expected to spend at least $500,000, bringing the total to well over a million dollars.

I hope AFLA sees this list of Elgin’s illegal alien sympathizers.
LOOK! I see a labor union rep, a president of a village overrun and destroyed by illegal aliens, a mayor, a sheriff who hides illegal aliens stats from citizens, and a fireman who was the campaign manager of an Elgin council candidate who was endorsed by AFLA.
What an All-Star team.
So what? Mayor Schock likes to back losers.
Speaking of who Schock backs, an excerpt from an article at the Courier under sports today.
http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/couriernews/sports/2004971,3_2_EL22_NOTES_S1-100122.article
Bandits exploring move to Joliet for 2011 season
Team owner Bill Sokolis said the Bandits are looking for a new field in 2011 and have talked with the JackHammers as well as looked at other possibilities.
I always thought the Bandits were robbing the Elgin taxpayers and if they do end up moving I believe it will reinforce my original thoughts.
Good find, Clarence. I never would have found that buried in the Courier sports section. Yeah, given all the taxpayers money involved to finance a private facility (Judsen) for the Bandits, shouldn’t this article been on the politics page!
On the plus side, maybe this means the city of Elgin (taxpayers) won’t have to pay millions for the Bandits new stadium at the sports complex!!!
Consider the dynamics at play on this one: after one city council member was caught with his hand in the Bandits cookie jar (and his recent suicide - most probably directly related) the remaining political class probably consider any affiliations with the Bandits to be detrimentel to their political careers. Most certainly we can conclude that the Bandits owner no longer finds the political climate in Elgin conducive to keeping his business here. Schock can’t wash his hands of this until the Bandits escape town.
Powers was only the tip of the iceberg of political corruption in Elgin. Just follow the money.
Most recent: millions of dollars to Davey Tree for tree inventory (not a single tree will be trimmed, cut, or planted) in Elgin.
How does a topic of Schock backing Noland have anything to do with fast pitch softball??
The Bandits are another group that Schock has backed in the past. The monthly open thread link isn’t on the home page so I put it on this page. With the Courier article that the Bandits are considering moving, it just brings to memory what a waste of taxpayer money on an out of town softball team that is not even appreciative enough of their state of the art softball field to be content stay in Elgin.
Thanks for posting that Bandits info, Clarence. I’d missed it in the Courier and am not sure the DH ran anything. At least the Bandits should have a moment of silence at their home opener for their victim Mike Powers before they slither off.
Anyway, the Schock-subsidy parade has moved on… Instead of woman’s softball, now Ed is going to cut some more city services so he can use our money to fund some homes for artist wannabees in “Artspace.” If Elgin has to fund some “artists,” how about sending the money over to schools for paper and finger-painting supplies? After the next round of budget cuts, what’s left of U-46 sure won’t be giving any art instruction.
Gentleman, Bob Bedard is one of the city fireman on the list of making $200.000 in salery, check it out. The hours he works is also listed. Is he really there all of the time as the rest of the overtimers? Rumor has it, he wants to run for the city council, should the voters put another fireman on the council? Ask Mr. Bedard when you see him in his BMW. Will Rich Dunne support this? If Kaptain runs for mayor, he can not retain his seat if he loses, he’s out.
Puh leeese!
What does the car Mr. Bedard drives have to do with anything???
He drives a Chevy pickup.
And just where is this “List” that says he made $200,000?
I bet he eats at McDonald’s, too. Does that put him in bed with the Baer Family?
I have never made $200,000 from the city and this year’s list will show that I am well below that threshhold.
I do drive an old Chevy pickup.
I am absolutely not interested in running for any public office.
I donate large amounts of time to the fire service since our public education is nonexistent. I used my own time to get a 10K grant to distribute CO and smoke detectors to our at-risk community and I have never made a dime off that program including the 100+ hours it took to get that grant and distribute the detectors at presentations all over town. I started a File of Life program for our city using funds from my union, Local 439, and Shales McNutt to purchase the files and again I distributed them on my own time. These efforts have saved our taxpayers thousands of dollars.
The city has eliminated all discretionary overtime (public education). Any money I made on overtime was made with me PRESENT at the firehouse working on an ambulance or engine.
Like other firefighters I have given back to my community. I have volunteered as a sports coach, worked on projects for The United Way, Lord’s Park Zoo, my church and the soup kitchen.
Tina, you know nothing about me and I suspect you know even less about how the Fire Department operates.
What is with some of the locals here and on other websites (Courier, Herald) spreading hysteria about FD overtime like its the next McCarthyism? When you look at the near panic levels of political hysteria going on around the country, you have to wonder if people who obfuscate facts to appease their own need to be angry really think this line of attack will get them anywhere. Have a real conversation about this and quit tea bagging as if nobody is smart enough to figure out that you are crazy.
A big thank you and tip of the hat to Bob and all Elgin firefighters and police. I personally can not fathom having a job where at any moment my life could be put on the line and I appreciate all these fireman and police do for us in Elgin and every other community. You are all appreciated by many.
A special thank you to Bob for the work on that grant. Way to go Bob.
Common Sense Clarence Hayward
With the risks comes the rewards, especially with the fire dept. Risk their lives? Yes. Did they ask to? Yes. Are they paid well to do so? Yes. They just got a 4.5% raise last month. I bet the next contract won’t be so nice. Heck, the city might even play catch up on the next one.
Are their risks greater now than in the past? No. There are fewer fires than even 10 years ago. Their risks are LESS.
Are they heroes? No. Rushing into a burning building is not only rare but it’s something they are trained to do. A citizen NOT trained to do that would be a hero.
Why are the false character assassinations of Bob Bedard even a consideration in this conversation? What does Bob Bedard’s earnings have to do with him being a supporter of Noland? I’m trying to find this “list” with Bob Bedard’s $200,000 earnings listed as well as his hours worked, I can’t seem to find it anywhere can you please provide us with some guidance? I know for a fact Bob Bedard made nowhere near that much money from his municipal job.
Bob does work overtime, and he is present for every single minute of that overtime. Not only does he work overtime for his career, but he also puts in countless hours of volunteering time for the good of the entire city of Elgin. He has raised thousands of dollars for local food banks, charities and families in need whether financially, medically or just with a helping hand around the house, he has donated precious free time to educating the public (since there is no overtime budget for public education), he devotes his time politically to council members, citizens groups and local businesses informing them of concerns for the entire city. He does this because he is a proud member of the community he lives in. He should be used as an example of what a citizen who makes complaints about the city should do, get involved. It’s easy to post false accusations and opinions on a website, it takes a strong person to help to organize a community and actually make it better.
I have yet to see Bob Bedard cruising around in his BMW, and who cares if Bob did drive a BMW. I didn’t know it was taboo or illegal to own a BMW, Toyota, Ford, Dodge, Lexus, Mercedes… etc. Since I’ve known Bob he’s driven the same old small blue Chevy pickup truck.
You attempt to assassinate Bob’s character with little to no facts about Bob Bedard. He is a caring citizen to the city he lives in. An exemplary employee to the city he lives in. A devoted family man who has instilled the values of integrity and service to not only community but country in his children.
Tina, you have totally invalidated any facts you hope to post in the future with your false accusations of a decent man in the community of Elgin.
Very logical and well written rebuttal. A tip of the hat to this writer and Mr. Bedard.
This is an excellent list to clip and save for reference when wondering who is really profiting from Elgin’s current misery… the massive unemployment, empty retail spaces, foreclosed homes, gang violence, bankrupt schools… and on and on. While each and every name on that list has done his little bit to further the region’s Crime and Poverty (CRAP) agenda and create the Welfare World environment so critical to the Chicago Machine’s success, one name deserves special commendation. The lifetime achievement award (shall we call it The Blagojevich Award or The Rod, for short?)for exterminating Elgin’s prosperous, independent middle class and furthering CRAPocrat ideals must go to Ed Schock. Schock was a leading figure in the illegal labor actions against U-46 in the 70’s which destabilized what had been one of the state’s finest school districts, sent concerned middle class residents fleeing and set in motion Elgin’s collapse. Kill the schools, kill the community. And just to finish off any lingering vestiges of mainstream American character in Elgin, Schock has used his mayoral position to waste millions of public dollars on worthless downtown revitalization schemes and payouts to favored business interests who create “jobs” filled by illegal aliens safely warehoused in ignored, deteriorating, gang-infested neighborhoods. “Si monumentum requiris, circumspice,” folks. Supporting Noland is just so Ed, just so consistent with a life devoted to getting rid of that pesky independent American middle class which so often stands in the way of the Chicago Machine, the CRAPocrat agenda, and the trollish minions like Mike Noland who implement it. Thanks, Ed.
But one more thing… While that list is certainly a good start on identifying the people creating in Elgin and Northern Illinois all the impoverished social and economic conditions for the success of the Chicago Machine and the arrival of the Mexican drug cartel, one big name is missing… No, I’m not talking about Mayor Ed’s pathetic Tonto, Mike Warren. This is a far bigger wheel - John G. Dalton, Godfather of the local Illegal Movement and the brains behind the Noland Gang. Dalton is just one of several predatory transplants who’ve descended on Elgin’s carcass to pick it over for their financial and political benefit. Many of them are content to sit in their architecturally-significant old houses tending their Obama shrines and sucking some Chardonnay while “being green” and celebrating the “diversity” that allows them to have cheap Mexican lawn care (Keep it organic there, Pedro!). Dalton, though, has bigger dreams… bigger even than holding the trollish Noland’s leash or being the mouthpiece for SOAP. With his little klan of CRAPocrat buddies, Dalton is now scheming for a Kane County judgeship which they can use to extend to the whole county the Illegal environment that Mister Ed has devoted his life toward achieving in Elgin. Why should only Elgin kids get killed on the streets when all of Kane County’s families can live the “progressive” CRAPocrat life in welfare dependency with gang memberships, bad schools and reasonably-priced narcotics for all?
rm, I find your comments to be hateful, mean spirited, divisive and uncivil. You have offended all supporters of Schock, Noland, And Dalton. Dalton founded SOAP (Speak out against prejudice) to confront the racists and bigots within our community who hide behind AFLA.
You, sir, should be banished to the purgatorium.
“You have offended all supporters of Schock, Noland, And Dalton.”
Thank you, bob, for commending me on hitting the trifecta but flattery will get you nowhere. I hope I also offended all supporters of Roland Burris, Dick Durbin, Rod Blagojevich, and the Chicago Machine, too. In other words, the leading predators operating in Illinois, all of whom should swiftly be banished to the lowest levels of a political “purgatorium.”
And, by the way, while you purport to find my comments “hateful, mean spirited, divisive and uncivil,” I note that you have nothing of substance to offer in rebuttal to my arguments. Not surprising from people who think hissing “bigot” is a rhetorical device and compelling form of argument.
.
“note that you have nothing of substance to offer in rebuttal to my arguments.”
That was kind of the essence of the problem. I’m not sure you had an argument; only unspecific generalized hatreds. For example, blaming Schock for current condition of Elgin is a tad absurd. Elgin’s been in a constant state of decline long before Schock.
Too, Elgin has a thriving middle class. That many of them thrive west of Randall can’t really be Schock fault. Blaming Noland might be absurd, too. He’s only been in office a few years. Doubtful Noland or his predecessor what’s her name could have done a single thing to stem the demographic tide that washed over Elgin and the rest of the U.S. as well. Enough rebuttal? Complaining is easy. Solutions are hard. Note you have nothing to offer in way of solutions to your whine.
“Dalton founded SOAP (Speak out against prejudice) to confront the racists and bigots within our community who hide behind AFLA.”
Dalton and all of the SOAP members are a very easy read. They’re not for anything illegal, as they say, but when citizens stand up and want the illegal activity punished…WELL! Then all who do THAT are racists! Attack the players, not the game. LOL. I could have figured out SOAP in 4th grade.
Dalton likes playing that old “end-around play”. Imagine him as a judge? Not me.
Who knows, there might be a few future political candidates on that list. If so, when it’s time, ask them if they have a plan for dealing with the stench of illegal aliens and the damage they are causing to the local economy and quality of life.
No plan? No vote!
It’s kind of a gray day in Elgin, but today’s Daily Herald brought a little sunshine into the lives of some of our leading residents.
Just imagine the beaming faces of John G. Dalton, Ed Schock, and Mike “the Minion” Noland when they learned that “the number of people in the region needing food assistance is ‘exploding’” and that U-46 is struggling with whether to cut 25 or 40 million bucks from its already emaciated budget. Poverty and ignorance (especially as represented in the form of ravaged schools) have long been some of the most important foundations of the political movement served by these three, uh, “gentlemen” (don’t want to be “hateful or “uncivil”). Along with ethnic division and corruption, poverty and ignorance complete the Four Horsemen of the Illinois Apocalypse, the fulfillment of which lies at the heart of the Machine’s CRAPocrat agenda and its local agents Messrs. Dalton, Noland and Schock.
December 2009 unemployment figures just in… and it’s good news for the local CRAPocrats. Elgin rates are up 2.1% to 15%. Elgin’s rate is 3.9% higher than the Illinois rate and 5% higher than the national rate. Ed Schock claims to be “surprised” by the high jobless rate. When Ed picked himself up off the floor, he surmised that this rate could be because about 20% of Elgin’s work-force is in construction-related fields. Schock does not add that “construction-related fields” were among the biggest consumers and enthusiasts for that cheap illegal-alien labor for which he, Noland and Dalton used Elgin as a sanctuary.
At least Elgin can content itself with knowing that its unemployment rate is exceeded by the 15.9% of Carpentersville - still suffering from its long subservience to Chicago Machine and illegal-alien stooge William Sarto and the impact of the rich Mexican labor enthusiast and Elgin Symphony president Tom Roeser. But, of course, Carpenterville was able to get off its knees and toss out Sarto. How much longer will Elgin have to wear Schock’s, Dalton’s and Noland’s noose?
Of course, it’s not just today’s exploding unemployment figures that indicate that Elgin is working to the Dalton, Noland, and Schock CRAPtown plan. Now the media are reporting a Mexican man was shot to death last night outside an Elgin house in foreclosure (according to the Tribune to the amount of 174,022 dollars) on Adams street. So, you may ask… what’s the “news” in this? It’s just Elgin’s rich diversity and nothing to deflect our city and its “progressive” leadership from addressing Elgin’s most pressing concern - “global warming.” In fact, I suspect Dave and Sandy Kaptain would do a little fist-pump and say that’s one less carbon footprint to worry about. Death and poverty are just so green. Note, though, that there is a newsworthy element here… Killing someone on West Adams puts to rest that canard that all the violent crime in Elgin occurs on Elgin’s east side around the homes of Ed Schock and John G. Dalton. Yes, it’s coming to a neighborhood near you and, if you look at the list of names supporting Mike the Minion Noland, you know whom to thank.
This is truly offensive. “RM” should be ashamed of himself for this anonymous slander. Trolls REALLY need to be pruned from this website! How can you have a civil debate over policy and community needs when this cr&p is allowed to continue???
“How can you have a civil debate over policy and community needs when this cr&p is allowed to continue???”
You could try reason and rationality rather than your attempt at exterminating opinion you disagree with. That you don’t speaks volumes about you.
But then I’m already on the exterminated list so you won’t have to tolerate my opinion!!!
Really Paul? You seem to be allowed to Post. I am happy to debate over policy issues. I do take exception to persons that accuse others of supporting murder just because they support the environmnet. You can’t debate with people like that. Allowing hate speech is the biggest problem this website has. There should be a means for users to flag hate speech and have it removed.
lt bob bedard is the most dedicated, hard working, and honorable man i know! elgin is lucky to have him. he strives to assist in all of elgins communities with his countless hours of volunteering. We should all try to be as self-less as Bob Bedard.
Isn’t it interesting that we are supposed to believe that Ed Schock is working for prosperity and stability in Elgin when he supports a guy who will cost Elgin millions of dollars every year?
Recently the Herald reported that a “suitable” owner for the proposed Des Plaines casino had been found. The casino is expected to open in late summer or fall of next year.
Riverboat tax revenues are essential to Elgin’s financial welfare, and are budgeted at $19.5 million for 2010. However, once the Des Plaines boat opens, Elgin is budgeting a 30 percent reduction in proposed revenues - that’s 5.85 million dollars Elgin will lose every year because of the Des Plaines boat.
All because of Michael Noland. In 2007 the Illinois Senate passed a gambling expansion bill permitting new casinos in Illinois. The bill passed by one vote - Michael Noland’s. If Michael Noland had not been in the Senate Elgin would not be facing a loss of nearly 6 million dollars in revenue every year. Just call “our” Senator The Six Million Dollar Man.
RS has asked on this blog whether there is any tax Michael Noland doesn’t like. A bigger question is whether Michael Noland has ever missed any chance to bring more poverty and dependency to the constituency he claims to represent. And, of course, the biggest question is why, if they truly had Elgin’s welfare at heart, Elgin’s leaders such as Schock and Kaptain support someone who has so grievously damaged the city’s future? Noland is the living embodiment of the CRAPocrat agenda - Crime And Poverty for Elgin. No one who supports the welfare of Elgin supports him.
On the subject of gambling I would like to encourage all to vote down the expansion of video gambling in Illinois.
I wish Pingree Grove’s Village Board would have acted on Carey’s suggestion. It is not right to try and punish the majority of about 63 local communities and governments who realize the folly of other states experiment with gambling as stated below.
STATES OF REGRET:
In 1999…
* The Louisiana public voted to end a gambling “experiment” and unplug 4,683 video poker machines.10
* Oregon and South Dakota were creating initiatives to remove 17,000 video poker machines from the lottery system.11
* The mayor of Las Vegas was considering removing video poker from neighborhoods [accessibility and convenience was creating addicts].12
* South Carolina’s Governor outlawed more than 34,000 video poker machines, after children, adults and families had suffered a statewide plague of gambling addiction.13
* Montana hosts 60 Gamblers Anonymous meetings every week and has one gambling machine per every 48 people.14 Problem and pathological gambling is estimated to be 3.6 percent, but problem and pathological gamblers account for nearly 37 percent of video gambling machine revenue. Montana relies heavily on gambling machine tax revenues, which account for an average of 14 percent of city funds. Each additional $1 million in Montana gambling tax revenue accounts for 172 additional crimes.15
Massachusetts State Rep. Dan Bosley said, “If there’s one vote I could take back it would be the vote to legalize keno. We’ve gone from a once-a-week game when the lottery was first created to a new game every five minutes. It’s insidious.”16
In 1994, a “natural experiment” in South Dakota forced all state video lottery terminals to be shut down for three months. The number of gamblers treated per month dropped by 93.5 percent, and the study found that 97.9 percent of gambling addicts — formerly in treatment — were primarily addicted to video lottery, not other types of gambling.17

Common Sense Clarence Hayward
A big thank you to East Dundee voters for using their common sense and voting down the video gambling expansion.
There are too many costs to governments and communities to expanding the video gambling. Trying to hold hostage governments to vote it in by threatening to withhold funds has not stopped 62 governments to vote it down.
At a recent Kane Committee of the Whole meeting Judge Golden of the county drug court told us that crack cocaine is the drug of choice that was abused by those in the drug program. Video gambling is coined the “crack cocaine” of gambling for a good reason.
There are a lot of reasons not to expand video gambling:
63 area governments have voted down the expansion of video gambling including Kane, Cook, and Dupage county.
Other states that voted it in realized their mistake and voted it out AFTER trying it.
Every dollar that is taken in by gambling is one less dollar that other non gambling merchants could have benefited from. Non gambling dollars get recycled to benefit more than one merchant in the community.
Having video gambling, which is considered the crack cocaine of gambling, available at more neighborhood bars close to work or home will give more opportunity for many more people to be harmed by the effects of a compulsive gambler. Studies show that about 17 other people are affected by a problem gambler.
Some of the revenue will just be a transfer from the riverboat to the machines in the bars
There are social agency costs to the agencies that help problem gamblers try and repair their lives.
There are untold costs to police to regulate the expansion of the gambling.
Some reasons why other states got rid of gambling after voting it in at:

Common Sense, Independent, Clarence Hayward
I hope the voters will elect some more common sense, independence, to the Kane County Board this November, especially in Hurlbut’s District 19. She voted for the gambling when the majority of the Kane County Board voted it down by one vote.
Common Sense, Independent, Clarence Hayward
Don’t miss Dave Gathman’s piece in the Courier on Michael Noland’s run-in with Carpentersville police on Election Day.
When caught engaging in illegal election activity and asked for identification, Senator Noland produced only a traffic ticket “issued for allegedly driving without insurance.”
It is so shameful and disturbing to know that my hometown has descended to level that it would elect someone with the fecal character of Michael Noland for public office. It was not that long ago that Elgin residents had to follow Chicago news to hear about public officials like Michael Noland.
And when April’s city elections come around, remember that both mayoral candidates Schock and Kaptain were willing to appear at a fundraiser for this guy. Yuck.
Is the article online? I looked but couldn’t find it.
It looks like Mayor Schock was backing the right candidates as the both won their respective races. The mayor is also against the purposed increase in members on the city council. The message sent to all elected officials in November was less government, not more. The city council with six members and a mayor has a hard enough time running the city. Why would anyone, in their right mind, suggest increasing the council to eight plus a mayor? Schock was most likely get elected again in the 2011 election and the agenda will remain as it is today. On another note, the GOP is going to start accepting Sarah Palin as a viable force within the party. I don’t believe she will run for President in 2012. She is making good money and having a ball doing what she dose best. She continues to rattle the chains of the GOP leadership. The Tea Party movement will continue too grow. The national GOP leadership needs to recognize their strong support all over America. The Tea Party may even invite the National GOP to join their movement if the GOP changes the way they operate. That will be a hard pill to swallow for the National GOP and their chairman Mr. Steele. The next two years should be of historical sufficients in American history. The local GOP had better get their house in order if they don’t want to continue suffering more embarrassing loses in future elections.
Today America is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birth.
May the life of this Illinois native who delivered the world from the Evil Empire inspire us to deliver Reagan’s home state, our families and our own community of Elgin from the evil empire of Chicago and its grip of criminal and racist poverty.
