Sherman Hospital opens on Randall Rd.

ELGIN, Ill. - A caravan of ambulances in Elgin helped move patients from the old Sherman Hospital location, to a new state-of-art medical center a few miles away.

The new Sherman Hospital is located on Randall Road about three miles away from the old facility on Center Street.

This morning, about 125 patients were transferred to the new location. The move is expected to take all day and some outpatient services may not be available until tomorrow.

The new hospital was built for 325 million dollars. The new emergency room is double the size of the old facility.

The original sherman hospital will reopen Wednesday as a 24-hour immediate care center.
