They are doing this so that the new City Council can be the ones to decide whether to continue/extend the policy. I now realize that Figueroa was the only one on the City Council that might have objected and could have explained the inconvenience and cost that the policy has had on poorer residents. So now the new city council will be the ones to decide, and I think there is little doubt that wodd/even parking will be a permanent policy for many of us. I wonder if they will extend it throughout the city, or just in keep it to the areas where they want to make our lives more "uncomfortable".
