Incumbent Elgin city councilmen John Walters and Juan Figueroa have been defeated in their reelection bids. With all precincts counted in Kane County and 13 of 16 precincts counted in Cook County, the victors are Richard Dunne, Robert Gilliam and John Prigge.
John Prigge now leads John Walters by 124 votes, and with only 3 precincts left to be counted, I think it’s over.
Congratulations to all the winners in this race.

Actually, according to the Kane County Election site it seems to be Gilliam, Walters and Dunne.

After adding Cook County results, John Prigge comes ahead.
Oh ok cool… thanks!
Welcome to the new Council members!
One thing is gleefully true now:
Sympathizing, enabling or favoring anything illegal, especially illegal aliens, will never get you elected or re-elected.
Take note Morales, Figueroa, Walters, Sarto and Ramirez.
Nice to have you on the outside looking in. Now you can watch the others clean up your mess.
It is only fitting that as a republic we elect people who can take the oath of office seriously, embrace the laws of the land, and act accordingly.
I think it is more than coincidence that Walters and Figueroa saw no conflict between their stand on illegal aliens and their oath of office.
Today is a good day in Elgin!
Kurt,
Why flood this site with your own rantings against another posters ranting? Frankly they are both tiring…
As for the topic at hand: Good to see some fresh faces. For a change two of the three canditates I voted for won.

Found out today that the Odd/Even Parking “Trial” is now going to be extended to May 31st. They are doing this so that the new City Council can be the ones to decide whether to continue/extend the policy. I now realize that Figueroa was the only one on the City Council that might have objected and could have explained the inconvenience and cost that the policy has had on poorer residents.
So now the new city council will be the ones to decide, and I think there is little doubt that wodd/even parking will be a permanent policy for many of us. I wonder if they will extend it throughout the city, or just in keep it to the areas where they want to make our lives more “uncomfortable”.
