What are your Key Issues?

1.My priority is to bring balance and fresh ideas to a township that has been run by the same party for decades. In these changing times, new viewpoints can help the township government evolve and to more effectively serve the people.

2.I believe in accountability and transparency at all levels of government, including the township. Currently, the Elgin township operates “under the radar” with the electorate generally unaware of what it does, how much it levies or what it does with that money. If the Elgin Township wants to function s the level of government “closest to the people” – its annual meeting needs to be relevant and attended, citizens–in–need should be make aware of the types of assistance available to them, and the township should be actively responding to changing political and economic environment.

3.I would hold the line on property taxes, property owners need relief where ever they can find it. I would ensure, if elected, that the township was meeting it's mandated services in a cost efficient way.

Carol Rauschenberger posted the above content on her campaign website before the April 7, 2009 election. Now that she won, we will see if anything changes in the Elgin Township Government. We will be watching.

Did Carol Rauschenberger win the Township Trustee position after all of the legal actions were completed?

The Daily Herald reported today that Carol Rauschenberger edged out Steve Thoren by 2 votes in the April 7, 2009 general election. The article went on to report that Thoren’s attorney would file a Freedom of Information request to do a recount on the absentee ballots. Thoren stated the following:
"I'm sure (Rauschenberger) would do the same thing - so would any one. If you didn't, you'd always wonder," Thoren said. Not true Mr. Thoren; I lost a County Board seat in the 1970’s in a hotly contested GOP Primary election to a strong GOP incumbent from West Dundee by 2 votes. I accepted the results without asking to look at any of the ballots cast in that election. Sometime you win and sometime you don’t. Your actions don’t surprise me. You were selected to fill the seat of Trustee Kurt Kojzarek who resigned and was appointed the Township Clerk. On January 19, 2009 you were appointed by the Town Board to the seat on a motion by Trustee Hudgens, seconded by Supervisor Miller as the hand picked candidate without consideration of other qualified candidates the same way Kurt Kojarek was chosen for Town Clerk. That is how the GOP keeps complete control of all Township elected officials. The can not accept an outsider asking for transparency and accountability in the way they conduct Township business and Carol Rauschenbrger will serve the taxpayer well in keeping with proper checks and balances.

The official results show Rauschenberger with 3185 and Thoren with 3183 a two vote difference as of April 23, 2008 certified by the County Clerk. All results for the April 7, 2008 election have canvassed and certified on the County Clerk's records.
