I notice Richard Dunn yard signs poping up everywhere. So I google him. and It lead me here. I never met the guy.But I would think there would be some kind of conflict of interest here being a city employee? Could someone help me out on this?

Rich Dunne was the Fire Marshall until his position was eliminated due to the budget crisis. He is now a firefighter again and state law allows firefighters to serve on the City Council

"Rich comes to this election as our recent Fire Marshall, a job where integrity must take precedence over favors to cronies."

Is he retired or the current fire marshall?

He is listed on the City of Elgin website as fire marshall:

http://www.cityofelgin.org/directory.asp?EID=37

Generally, I do not want to support candidates who are city employees or the employee of any organization that does business or receives grants from the city.

There are some fresh faces in this election. Voters need to know if they are the RIGHT faces. There will be some serious budget issues in the next few months and years and some of these fresh faces better be prepared to break some hearts when the money time comes.

Frankly, I don't see how the current three councilmen can possibly run on their record of the past four years. John Walters has done nothing. Juan Figueroa has been a disappointment and his honeymoon is over. Robert Gilliam is only a notch or two above Walters. I will not vote for them no matter what.

I am very interested in going to the forums and getting to know Mr. Dunne and Mr. Prigge, tho. As I stated before, I met Mr. Prigge last year and was very impressed.

We all need to find out about the challengers, not the 3 who are there now. I know enough about them to know it ain't working for me for 4 more years.

I would like to see some fresh new blood on the city council. the majority of the council members have been there too long and are out of touch with the reality of the "new" Elgin and it's many problems. It is time for the citizens to take back the city that we pay taxes to maintain and stop letting six talking heads tell us what we want and don't want. This is not the Elgin it was twenty years ago and for the council to treat it as such is the same as if they expect different results while doing the same old things. It is time for a change across the board

Richard Dunne has tossed his hat into the ring in the election for Elgin City Council, and I, for one, am pleased to see a man of caliber and honesty running. Rich comes to this election as our recent Fire Marshall, a job where integrity must take precedence over favors to cronies. Rich is also a Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force Reserve, and serves in areomedical evacuation of wounded troops from the Middle East conflicts. Rich and his family are long-time Elgin residents and few have ever shown as much concern or effort in improving our city. I strongly support him in this election and assure voters that they couldn't find a better, more concerned or more capable candidate.

What term is she running for? 2 or 4 year? The only other name I have heard or recognize is John Prigge. I met him once last year and was very impressed.
