About Steve Greenberg
Steve Greenberg is the guy running against Melissa Bean. I encountered one of his ads somewhere, which lead to his website. One of the pages on the site, entitled About Steve, describes his qualifications. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever read (on a candidate’s website):
Steve attended the 1992 Republican National Convention and was moved by Ronald Reagan’s speech. President Reagan’s delivery demonstrated how eloquence and passion could capture the hearts and minds of the audience and remind them that government should give a voice to the people.

Steve learned economics firsthand from Jack Kemp and what it means to be a statesman from President George Bush Sr. Both gentlemen were guest speakers hosted by Steve’s family at events for their customers.

Steve witnessed a government working for the people when Governor Tommy Thompson of Wisconsin created and implemented a welfare reform program that worked with businesses in hiring individuals on welfare. Steve’s family business, Promotions Unlimited Corporation (PUC), participated in the program.

Steve played professional hockey for the Hampton Roads Admirals, a minor league affiliate of the Washington Capitals. Only physical injury prevented Steve from going on to play in the National Hockey League.

Yeah, so evidently, Melissa Bean’s the one we can blame on higher gas prices and our bad economy, at least according to the ad script on that site:

I want my rep to shoot and make a goal, and in an intra-House hockey match, who’s going to be better for Illinois - an injured ex-minor league hockey player or someone that I assume probably didn’t play hockey… and if she did probably not minorly like Greenberg. (oh wait that was a question) ?

Yep, but that’s politics. Incumbents are always blamed for everything that goes wrong. Obama is doing the same thing in the presidential election. Standard fare.
