City council wrap-up

March 27th, 2008

Not a lot of people at last night’s meeting. That goes not just for the audience, but for the council itself. Councilmen Robert Gilliam, John Steffen and John Walters were absent.

  • The Mission nightclub gets the go-ahead for filming an MTV show
  • Artspace gets $25K for a “comprehensive marketing study of area artists”
  • Tongue N Chic gets $71K for facade improvement, center city business loan and e-Elgin incentives
  • Boys and Girls Club gets $140K
  • Elgin Symphony Orchestra gets $227K
  • Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce gets $155K
  • Red Bar Winery is approved for the downtown

    Just heard tonight that Tongue N Chic will open on Douglas Ave. near the Tower Building. They’ll be doing dental + botox.
