Pit bulls attack old lady

January 28th, 2008

Time to revisit the proposed pit bull ban?

Elgin police and paramedics responded to an attack on an elderly woman this morning by two pit bulls.

The woman reportedly was severely injured in the attack that occurred about 10:30 a.m. on Elgin’s southwest side. She was transported by paramedics to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital. No report on her condition was immediately available.

The two dogs believed responsible for the attack were taken into custody by Elgin police. (source: Elgin Courier News 1/28/08)

A 53 year old woman is in no way an “old lady”. Rick - if you want to be taken seriously, please be more careful of your blog titles. You may be in your twenties, but realize that your “blog” is read by people older than yourself and try to put some thought into your posts.

Sorry cedarwaxwing, I was relying on the original Courier news flash, which was at the same URL, and which didn’t publish her age. They just said she was an “elderly woman,” as you can see in the block quote.

The new story does list her age.

I’m sorry if I offended anyone. For the record, I wouldn’t characterize 53-year-olds as old people…

I take great offense at your referral to an old lady at 53. That’s the problem with taking the media at face value. Maybe you should have waited to post until additional information was available.
