Chris Lauzen loses it
December 26th, 2007Aurora State Senator Chris Lauzen actually had a good chance of winning Dennis Hastert’s 14th district seat. Oberweis is a formidable opponent, but they were polling even, their war chests were comparable, and if anything Lauzen had an edge, because he has a history of running successful campaigns that won by large margins. But through statements he made recently to the Chicago Tribune, he has forfeited the race.
What did he say?
Lauzen said he made a mistake running for office 16 years ago, saying politics is a “crappy business that has cost his family millions of dollars. (source: Chicago Tribune 12/21/07)
Just one mailing or one commercial with this quote will torpedo any chance he had.
Lauzen has shown bad judgment before. In his race against Harry Seigle for comptroller, he tried to have his name legally changed to “Christopher J. Lauzen, C.P.A.,” so that it would show up on the ballot as such. A judge refused to allow it.
