City council wrap-up

Budget Director Sean Stegall presented the 2008 Elgin city budget. It looked pretty good.
Highlights of 2008 budget:

no public works employees added in 2008 (3 were already added in 2007)
$7.7M generated in downtown TIF funds ($5.1 expended)
$500K for green initiatives — maybe this can be tapped for a community garden?
$2.75M for mandatory deconversion

The city rolled out the red carpet for the Chicago Bandits at an official news conference at Judson University yesterday.
