Masons are demonic... Do the research!!! If you don't think so you are blind!! You would'nt realize this until you climb the mason tree to 33' Mason.. You are binding yourself with satan when you take the oath. Do you the research

At least they removed the cornerstone in one piece and it will be safe. I was afraid that they would just scratch out whatever they found offensive.

It's too bad the symbol is damaged, but it looks like the sort of thing where a reproduction can be slipped in without anyone noticing the difference.

the parts of the symbol are at the Old Main Museum. I think the city should pay to have it restored to one piece. The cornerstone was pull out too - that's how they found the time capsule.

As a condition of the council's approval, the church will be required to hire a professional to remove the symbols under city supervision.

Then why did a city of Elgin employee crew remove the symbols. What happened to "hiring a professional".
That is why the symbols fell apart upon removal. They were not trained in restoration.

I agree with the anonymous user - it is sad.
But I don't expect any other decision from a city government that demolishes historic buildings and thinks it is progressive to destroy rural areas in favor of homes no one in the area can afford.

Both my and my husband's grandfathers were members of that Masonic Lodge - close to, if not during, the time the cornerstone was laid.

Sad. How can they be allowed to deface a landmark like this? A.L. or Anno Lucis refers to a date set by an Anglican arcbishop as the creation of the world. There's nothing demonic about it. It may be inaccurate, but it's not anti-Christian.

How are they going to remove this date from the cornerstone? Just scratch it out? Silly. The city should have sought a compromise that would have allowed the church to remove the symbol from the pediment (something that can be put back in place when the church eventually moves out of the building), while keeping the masonic date which can't be reinstalled.
