Remembering the Civic Center
October 6th, 2007The Gail Borden Public Library building of the Civic Center, as it looked two years ago:

Gail Borden Public Library, Civic Center

And as it looked several weeks ago:

As you can see, not much effort has been put into turning it into a usable field. It’s been seeded, but there’s no top soil–obviously that’s not the only problem with it. Councilmen Figueroa and Gilliam asked City Manager Femi Folarin a few months ago to make the site more attractive, and I don’t know if this seeding was done before or after the request, but the landscaping effort here is insufficient. This site will be vacant for at least a few years, so we should make it usable and attractive.

I thought they were going to make it a condo or something?

Posted October 9th, 2007 at 6:40 pmHi everybody,
Thanks for leaving comments.
Frankwolftown, the Water Street Place condo project is on indefinite hold, because of market conditions. Because real estate cycles tend to be relatively long term cycles, I think it’s unlikely that any condo project will be constructed here in the next ten years.
Anonymous, sorry about the confusion. The angles aren’t the same, but they are pictures of the same place.
