I'm the pres of NENA and a member of the DC Cook Task Force and I personally can say ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. We (NENA and the Task Force) have made some contacts with JU already regarding their acquisition of the DC Cook property. So I believe we will be in a very supportive position. If you want to make it official, let me know and we'll get it on an agenda or two. We have done a lot of research on financial incentives available for this project and I think we could help give JU a jump start to what could be a great use of a beautiful building and amazing site.

NENA meets on the 1st Thursday of every month at Sherman Hosp (7 pm, Ski Room) and the DC Cook Task Force meets the 3d Monday of every month at the DNA offices on Douglas Ave. Please let me know if someone would like to further this discussion!

Thank you for your comment, Mr. Cain. I'm glad to hear that this might be something you and Judson University could support.

You probably didn't see these responses from the forum part of the site, so I'll point them out here:

If Judson is on board, I guess the next step is to see if NENA will support this.

Great idea! Many of our staff spent time this past week in downtown Elgin trying to attract the ArtSpace folk to our city. Judson could use some art and architecture studio space somewhere off campus and the Cook facilities might work. Dr. David Mehlis, retired president of Cook Communications is on our Board of Trustees. I do not have any extra money right now but would like to continue this conversation. Jerry Cain, President, Judson University.
