Greg Schock’s platform
January 14th, 2007Greg Schock greeted visitors at City Hall last week before the council meeting and handed out flyers. This is the first flyer I’ve seen by any of the council candidates, so I thought I would share it with you (keep in mind that this doesn’t represent an endorsement), especially since he doesn’t seem to have a website.
Slogan: “Preserving our present to protect our future.”
Platform:
- Stop residential expansion; preserve existing neighborhoods
- Stop liberal incentives for developers
- Ensure that Elgin’s established businesses remain competitive
- Secure Elgin’s partnership with the Grand Victoria Casino
- Alleviate traffic problems by opening up Lyle St. to the Metra station and create a third bridge over the Fox River
- Create a stop light at Shale’s Parkway and Route 58
- Create more ROPE officers and a police substation(s)
- Add more public works employees and equipment
- Improve relations with minority groups
- Secure and expand the industrial job base
- Allow the little leagues to keep their billboards
About the candidate:
“I am a life-time Elgin resident, married for over 22 years with two children. 19 years at SKF/Chicago Rawhide. I.H.S.A. youth umpire. I am a dedicated environmentalist as well as a human rights advocate.”
He lists his contact information on the flyer: 847-742-3127, mryankeebaseball [ at ] hotmail.com

Is this guy related to Ed Schock?
Posted January 16th, 2007 at 3:45 pmObviously, another candidate who is totally ignoring the 800-pound gorilla in Elgin - the Mexican illegal alien tsunami. As the few remaining literate Americans in Elgin titter on about condos and the menu at Al’s, El Gin sinks into a third-world plantation housing Mexican serf labor for the white guys living in Sleepy Hollow and St. Charles.
