My concern about the whole thing is if and when Wal-Mart moves, what happens to the gargatuan building they will leave behind? What is left will be yet another empty big box building to go along with the Dominicks at Otter Creek.

So you drive from Algonquin to Aurora, with shopping options galore, and there's Elgin, the "Dead Zone" smack in the middle of the Randall Road Prmised Land.

Why won't the city encourge Wal-Mart to tear down the Franks/Sears Plaza next door and build it there?

The northwest side of Elgin is starting to take on the same characteristics of the east side. The difference is, the east side still has a major chain grocery store.

Of course, the cynic in me says that Jewel will eventually want to build one of their own superstores in Hoffman Estates in the Shoe Factory/Beverly Road area. Then that won't be here either.
