Mmmmm.. .this article is making me salivate. I've tried Akina's. It was pretty good. It has a nice ambiance, and is conveniently located. However, the udon noodles used in the chicken noodle soup (very different from the american chicken noodle soup) were a little overcooked. The freshly made noodles used at the White Pearl is usually firm and perfectly cooked, but the broth is a little thicker and occasionally on the sweet side. Maybe it's the fried onions that garnish the soup that adds the sweetness. I've also tried their fried chicken, which was also sweet. The food was good once you get past the sweetness, though. They do make good Pad Thai, if you really want to go that way.
